Late Spring by the Water

The lake lies deep in the forests of Dalarna, away from roads and prepared fishing places. We drive as far as the track allows, leave the car at the last possible place and continue on foot.

The way to the water leads through wet forest and soft, marshy ground around the tjärn. It is not a dramatic expedition, but reaching places like this still takes time. The walk is part of the fishing day and part of the atmosphere of the film.

Deep in the Forests of Dalarna

We arrive during the afternoon, while late spring is slowly changing the landscape. The forest is becoming greener, but the water still carries the cold of the previous months. Light and weather shift throughout the day, changing the surface of the lake and the reflections along the shoreline.

We fish with spinning rods and a selection of different lures, moving between the accessible places along the bank. There is no fixed plan beyond observing the water, adapting to the conditions and allowing the day to develop at its own pace.

Fishing into the Evening

The fishing continues from the afternoon into the evening. As the light becomes softer, the lake grows quieter and the forest begins to settle around us.

Not every fishing day is defined by a large catch. Much of it consists of walking, casting, changing lures and watching the water. These ordinary moments are what the film tries to preserve.

Cinematic Fishing follows both new and familiar waters during normal fishing days. The aim is not to create an artificial adventure or force a dramatic story onto the place.

We go fishing in a simple way — with time, patience and attention to the landscape around us. The camera records the movement of the water, the changing weather and the quiet rhythm of fishing as it unfolds naturally.
